Review Topic: General Review

My husbands appointment was 8am. But the embassy car park was opened at 730am.
Only those who were interviewed were allowed in.
The embassy had heavy security presence. I waited at the car park.
That day there were only 5 immigrant interviews. So the car park and the area was pretty empty.
This is based on my husbands experience.
Once he went through security. He was called in the 1st window to hand in all the paperwork. He was not seen until after 2 hours.
He was interviewed by a CO. Who was polite.
She asked many questions about our marriage.
How long we have known each other
Who all attended the wedding
How many guests attended.
The collage he gave had different photos of my visit to Fiji
How many times I had travelled to Fiji to visit him.
Asked about my taxes and requested to see our 2017 taxes.
My husband was calm and collected.
State end. She informed my husband his application was approved and wished him a safe journey to the US.
The security guards were really good. At a time when I felt so anxious for my husband. Just having small conversations with the security was comforting.
My husband came out in 3 and half hours later.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Arrived at the Embassy at around 7.35am. The waiting area outside was pretty filled with people from other pacific islands. Most of them were applying for tourist Visas. Was called in at around 8.15am and went pass security check and they scanned my bags and everything I took with me. The guards were very nice! We had to go through 2 separate sections of security! So finally we went in to the interview room that had around 24 seats and 5 interview windows. When my number was called out I had to go to the grumpy lady at Window 4 and she asked me to place my four fingers on the ink-less digital scanner (4 fingers) and then later asked if I had the original civil documents. After collection of my civil documents she asked me of the PCC and I told her I already paid for it and it was supposed to be delivered to the Embassy in December by the Police force. She said they never received the PCC and asked for the passport photos then told me to take a seat. She called me again to ask for my twin(sons) Original Court Custody to which I told her that I didn't have. I told her that I had the notarized consent letter from my ex husband and the terms of settlement from the court. I handed her those and she took it to my relief!!! She then asked for the financial documents and I handed her those too- she looked surprised when I had those last minute documents because our cases were expedited and my husband had to mail me the required documents from the Embassy with FeDex which cost us $161! I had to seat back down and wait for the CO to call out my number because there was just this (guy)CO who was interviewing the tourist Visa applicants. My boys were getting restless and I just wanted to get home. Finally a young woman came to window 2 and called out my number. How happy I was to see her! That stubborn lady really made me nervous and I was losing hope every time I saw her lol. So I went to the lady CO and I said good morning and smiled and she was nice! She apologized about the delay because the server was down and wasn't able to access my information online and so she was going by the documents and began asking me questions..

Where did you meet your husband?
How did you come to see/know each other?
When was the first time you met in person?
When did you two get married?
How long did he stay on his last trip?
When was the last time he was divorced?
How many kids does he have?
What are their names and ages?
Have you met his kids?
When did you and your ex husband get a divorce?
When did you separate?

I guessed she asked those many questions because of me and my husband's age gap and that we just met each other almost 2 years ago. After asking me all of those questions she later told me that I was qualified (which I believe means you are approved because while sitting down, I heard the other CO using the terms "you are qualified" and "you are not qualified" to the other applicants)
She then said that I will be called in for a second interview (without the boys) because the server was still down and they needed to get my fingerprints taken and say the oath too. I was also being reminded that I needed to check with the Police HQ about my PCC and she gave me a pamphlet on Rights for Immigrants on Domestic Violence and gave me a brief explanation about it and said that I was going to hear from them in the next day or two about the interview. She kept the passports and gave me a 221 (g) white paper which stated the PCC as a missing document.
(I contacted the Fiji Police HQ about the PCC only to be told that it was not processed and that my application was not in the system! SMH I had to run around for that and get another one done (the next day)OF COURSE WITHOUT PAYMENT because I had my original receipt with me. I emailed the Embassy telling them that the PCC was going to be available when their truck/van goes to the Police HQ for pickup(of PCC's)on Tuesday the next following week.
It took around 2 hours from the time I entered to the time I was done with the interview.
I give the Embassy a 4 instead of 5 because of the grumpy lady :P. I rate the experience with the CO and security a 5-VERY GOOD.

The Police Force here never processed and sent the PCC to the Embassy on Tuesday.
It was sent out on Thursday and the Embassy called me on Thursday afternoon before they closed to let me know that they have received my PCC and that my interview was scheduled for Tuesday - 29th March.

Arrived (late) at the Consulate - mad traffic. Called in at around 8.35am. I sat down for less than 5 minutes when the same Consulate officer from the previous interview, called out my name. I went up to take the oath and took the fingerprints. I sat back down and within a few minutes was called back and she gave me a receipt and wrote the date of pick up and told me to pick up the passports on Thursday at 3pm. Finally!

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Wife baby and me arrived at 8:15 for 8:30 appointment. They told her, the beneficiary to come to the window while I hold baby. The co, a young woman asked about 5 questions then called me to the window and explained to both of us that we are approved!
What a nightmare it was at the last minute finding out that they had not even received our i-864 from NVC! After calling them the night before our appointment, they had nothing to help. After the interview we asked for our original papers and they could not find them??? So they said they would have everything ready when we return tomorrow for the visa. We left at about 10:30, so it was relatively fast and smooth despite apparent miscommunication with NVC.
We asked for and received expedite status at each step.
